WHERE IS BAT?
The site of Bat is located in the inner piedmont of the Hajar Mountains, in the modern Sultanate of Oman. The site is located within a tributary of the Wadi Khabir, a major pass through the mountains and a seasonal riverbed.
BAT LANDSCAPE
Bat is better understood as an archaeological landscape featuring many sites than as a single unified site. This landscape, with its many ancient monuments , spans the wadis al-Hijr and al-Sharsah and the surrounding hills. At the center is the modern village and oasis of Bat, where archaeological remains form the backdrop for a thriving community.
BAP'S RESEARCH
The Bat Archaeological Project has conducted research on the Bat the ancient and historic remains in the Bat landscape since 2007.
